I use a humanistic and holistic approach to therapy. In simpler terms, I use a hodgepodge of various techniques to help out the client. For some clients, I might use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. For other clients, I may use a Strengths-Based approach or Motivational Interviewing.
I love to use metaphors and analogies to help my clients describe and conceptualize their experiences in different ways. For example, I believe a therapist should be a mirror for clients to see the good and bad parts of themselves more clearly.
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Sociology with minors in Psychology and Gender Studies. These areas of study help me to understand how the world works and how it impacts people, often disproportionately negatively for minorities. After graduating with my Master’s in Social Work, I worked in advocacy by doing community education to help people understand the experiences of LGBTQ+ folks.
If you feel like the world is built against you or that nobody understands your experiences, I am here to listen and understand.
I have a cat named Beans who loves to show up on video calls.
I love to go out dancing with friends and family. I am also a huge lover of music and theater. I am a roller coaster enthusiast.
As a transgender, gay man, coming out has been a huge part of my life. I believe that gender, sexuality, and romantic attraction are fluid and change throughout people’s lives. My own LGBTQ+ journeys have helped me to understand and appreciate every version of myself that exists and has existed in the past. All places of oppression are inherently connected, and I believe that these experiences help me to better understand others in unique ways.
