Well-being looks different for every person, so my approach to working with clients is focused on identifying what living a full and meaningful life might uniquely look like for you and partnering with you to get there together. This means embracing unique and personalized approaches to self-care and coping with life’s stressors, rather than listening to what media, culture, or other people with authority might tell us this should look like.
As a therapist, I believe in taking a client-centered, strengths-focused approach that involves walking side by side with clients and recognizing them as the expert on their own health and wellness. As such, I allow clients to take the “driver’s seat” in navigating our work where they feel they need to. As the therapist, I might put my hand on the figurative steering wheel to “course correct” or offer some navigation assistance as needed, but my role is in supporting you where YOU want to take your journey, not where I think you should. Together, we’ll explore patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and where these might come from, identify parts that might not be serving you, and work to build a life worth living.
Through my interdisciplinary background and training in social work, public health, and psychology, I’ve focused on the impact of our surrounding communities, systems, and policies on our wellbeing. I don’t believe that we can talk about you without talking about your environment and the way that the world around us contributes to your mental health, both for better and for worse. My background prior to joining Therapy Today has been focused on supporting the the mental health and wellbeing of college students, young adults, and student athletes. I’m passionate about working with youth and young adults, as I view emerging adulthood as a critical time for developing health promoting habits to carry with you into the future.
In addition to my work at Therapy Today, I work on a public health initiative aimed at expanding access to mental health services for Michigan community college students. Outside of work, I love to go on walks, spend time in nature, and enjoy time with my friends, family, and my dog. I am a proud first generation college student and member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
