“A contributive life of giving hope to those who are suffering is a source of growth, fulfillment, learning, creativity, and solidarity.” Daiskau Ikeda
I hold an MSW in Interpersonal Practice and Global Social Work from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Strategic Planning from the University of San Francisco. My extensive training across diverse clinical settings has deepened my passion for providing exceptional care to clients of all backgrounds. I find my work most fulfilling when supporting individuals across a broad spectrum of racial, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation, gender, and disability identities, including the transgender and LGBTQIA+ community. Known for my direct and honest approach, I balance transparency with deep compassion and nonjudgmental support. I center therapy on individuals’ unique values, helping them navigate challenges and move toward a more meaningful life. Collaboration is central to my therapeutic relationships, and I remain open to feedback, ensuring my clients feel heard. I aim to create a warm, engaging space—with a touch of humor—where clients can fully explore their experiences. I’m committed to delivering therapy grounded in evidence-based practices, integrating them thoughtfully to create personalized and effective treatment tailored to the complexities of each person’s life. My primary approach is Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) -informed, alongside training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Sex Therapy, Play Therapy, and Family Systems. I specialize in anxiety, interpersonal issues, life transitions, identity, sexuality, and high levels of self-criticism. I work with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, couples, and family therapy.
I completed my field placement at the University of Michigan, Dearborn’s Counseling and Psychological Services, where I worked with both undergraduate and graduate students. My practicum took me to Berry Street’s Take Two program in Melbourne, Australia, where I focused on working with children and family systems. In addition to my clinical practice, I also offer Buddhist faith-based counseling to members of my Buddhist community. My career has spanned multiple industries, including the performing arts, fashion, branding, technology, and the non-profit sector. I’ve been deeply involved in activism, serving as a director and now an advisor with V-Day, a global movement dedicated to ending violence against women and transgender females. I also helped launch the One Billion Rising campaign. Drawing on my varied background, I bring a unique perspective to my therapeutic work, blending these experiences to foster personal growth and transformation for my clients.
Growing up between New York City and Woodstock, I developed a deep appreciation for both the urban rhythm of the streets and the echo of the subway, the stunning Catskill mountains, and the serenity of forest bathing. Outside work, I enjoy my engaged Buddhist practice, playing jazz piano, practicing yoga, and exploring new places.
